Our sky

From the highest point of the rocky ridge that borders our fields on the south west you can behold the sea.
This high hill protects the trees from the humid Scirocco (south westerly winds) and allows the fresh northerly winds, the Maestrale and Levante to caress the groves. According to experts, this geographic and climatic position is ideal for the good quality of our cultivations.
The lack of humidity in the area, ensures the trees against disease, and protects them from the proliferation of harmful insects, rendering this area a favourable and healthy site. The landscape and its flora, the mild and pleasant climate, all help to stimulate and strengthen the produce of our biological agriculture.
The sea presents an even more surprising vision, especially when glimpsed through the silvery boughs of the olive groves. In those magic moments, the trees, the sky and the sight of the observer seem as if suspended in one single breath. Surrounded by nature one has the impression of being "out of this world".

It is strange how when we are suddenly aware of the world around us, according to Giorgio Messori, - we express this awareness by saying that we feel as if we were "out of this world".

And it is this special light that holds this world together, in summer just as in winter. It is a vibrating, throbbing, clear light, that together with the wind, plays with the flickering green and silver leaves of the olive trees.
This strange light impresses everybody who comes to Puglia for the first time, when they discover how, even in the more remote and dark corners inside the houses and churches, the light bounces among the limestone walls, on the glass and mirrors, filtering through the crags in the stones and illuminating even the shadows.

Come and have a look at the sky above Ostuni.
